We just returned from a fun filled, sun filled weekend in Norris Lake, Tennessee where we spent a few gorgeous days soaking in the sun and boating with friends. This was our first road trip to Norris Lake, and since it is only a few hours away from our home in Cincinnati, I am sure we will be back! The water was warm and clear and perfect for swimming, tubing, and lazing about. And I need to unpack, but for now I am giggling while looking over the pictures we took. And I am sore as heck from tubing and falling and the tubing and falling….over and over again. I actually have bruises all up my legs from falling so crazy hard! And I am still terribly full from all the eating and drinking we did. And I am sun burned beyond belief (even my lips are burned!) despite numerous sunscreen applications. And I am totally, happily worn out. It doesn’t get much better than fun in the sun on a gorgeous lake. It was a fantastic way to send off another fun summer!

We loved our condo at Shanghai Resort. (The VRBO listing is here). With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, two jacuzzi tubs, a gorgeous deck and fully equipped kitchen, it was the perfect place to wind down each night. The lake view was gorgeous and it also had a boat slip assigned to the condo. I would definitely stay here again on future trips to Norris Lake.
We rented both a Party Pontoon and a Ski Boat from Shanghai Marina Rentals. We had a blast on the party pontoon. Docking in one of the countless coves (Click here for a map), we all played on the slide, jumped from the upper deck and floated in the turquoise waters. A pontoon boat is for maximum relaxation. On the other hand, the ski boat was insanely fun too and we spent hours tubing and racing down the lake.
Make sure to apply (and reapply and reapply…) sunscreen throughout your time on the water at Norris Lake. I am burnt to a crisp right now even though I applied sunscreen several times each day. And protect your lips with chapstick with SPF! Mine are swollen and sore from too much sun.
