Adventure Van Travels – Channel Islands

Hike a little, swim a little, snorkel a little, nap a little and repeat. This pretty much sums up what we have been up to here on Santa Cruz Island and I definitely can’t complain!    The weather is mild and breezy, sunrises and sunsets are unforgettable, the views are unbelievable, and we have been snorkeling right from the beach but still have seen lots of fish.  And crowds? Forget about it. There are none! While the beach area does bustle at times with day trippers, the campground is quiet and serene. This really is heaven on earth.   We’ve got three hammocks hanging from the fragrant eucalyptus trees surrounding our site and we are all perfecting the art of relaxing in this amazing wild place.    So far we’ve taken hikes to cave point and potato harbor, and both offered beautiful views of the ocean and seaside cliffs.     The visitor center is also quite interesting with exhibits on what it was like to live on the island at various points in history and also wildlife restoration projects for the island fox and bald eagle.   While the campground is primitive with only pit toilets available, there is water available and each site is equipped with a food box to protect your food from the wily island foxes.   We are so enjoying our stay here on Santa Cruz Island and can’t wait for more!
