I love New Orleans French Quarter shopping. Because New Orleans in such a unique city, there is nothing quite like the sights, sounds and smells when meandering the beautiful old streets of the French Quarter to shop and look around. New Orleans French Quarter Shopping – One of a Kind Experiences

All around the French Quarter in various nooks and crannies, you can find amazing sculptures, statues and of course, architecture. So grab a coffee at PJ’s or a Cafe au Lait from Cafe du Monde and meander along the streets to discover them for yourself. And make sure you stroll around Jackson Square to check out the local artisans who set up shop daily selling their unique wares. From beautiful original paintings to stunning photography, there are tons of options when shopping for art in the French Quarter. One of the most unique finds of the day was an unbelievably gorgeous embroidered and painted gown along Royal Street at Antieau Gallery. The beautiful gown is unlike anything I have ever seen. We also enjoyed perusing the various artisan booths in the historic French Market where interspersed among t-shirts and other souvenirs, we found lovely pottery, photography and handmade jewelry. New Orleans French Quarter ShoppingWhile shopping in the French Quarter, you will have plenty of entertainment as talented street performers roam about performing diverse acts. We were mesmerized by an amazingly talented bluegrass band and also enjoyed the performance of a hilarious group of break dancers.New Orleans French Quarter ShoppingNew Orleans French Quarter Shopping

New Orleans French Quarter Shopping – Bevolo Gas Lights

One of the most unique shops we found when exploring the French Quarter was Bevolo Gas and Electric Lights which has been handcrafting intricate gas lamps in New Orleans since 1945. This is the kind of shop that in the era of big box stores and mass production, you are so happy still exists. These one of a kind beautiful gas lamps are made on site in a workshop in the interior of the store and we loved watching one of the craftsman work making a gas lamp.New Orleans French Quarter ShoppingNew Orleans French Quarter Shopping

New Orleans French Quarter Shopping- Dauphine Street Books

Another shop I absolutely adored when New Orleans French Quarter shopping was Dauphine Street Books. This small shop is packed floor to ceiling with used books of every genre. And imagine our delight when we walked inside and asked the owner if he had any books about haunted New Orleans sites, and not only did he have one, locating it in one of the numerous piles by his side, he knew exactly where it was.  This really is a one of a kind store and a true New Orleans treasure.New Orleans French Quarter ShoppingNew Orleans French Quarter ShoppingNew Orleans French Quarter ShoppingNew Orleans French Quarter shopping is such a fun and unique experience and one of the many reasons we love visiting the area.
