Adventure Van Travels – Bryce Canyon National Park

The sun finally came out in Utah and we all slept well and woke up to gorgeous sunny skies and warm temps. Since dinner had been so hurried the night before, we made a big breakfast of bacon, grits and scrambled eggs, packed up and hit the road for the gorgeous drive to Bryce Canyon National Park.    We had a few stops we needed to make along the way- we needed to fill up our food box, get money from the ATM, and get gas, so we did all that in Salt Lake City before the breathtaking drive through southern Utah and into Bryce Canyon. We first visited the Visitor Center to pick up back country permits for tomorrow night and look around before heading to our campsite at Sunset Campground where I did some campsite style laundry.    This may be my favorite National Park campground. While sites are fairly close together, pine trees and shrubbery are abundant and allow for privacy. The bathrooms are clean, and the short walk to the amazing views and trails at Sunset point is so convenient.    We walked the super steep and super beautiful Navajo Loop Trail from Sunset Point and also watched the sunset set the canyon aglow. Bryce Canyon is so beautiful.         Maya and I slept in our tent last night and after a cold night sleeping under the stars, we woke up early so we snuck off to walk the rim trail and ended up at Bryce Canyon Lodge where we ate a delicious breakfast of coffee and biscotti at the coffee shop. Early bird gets the worm, right? Today we are excited to be heading into the backcountry here in Bryce Canyon. Can’t wait!
