Utah is one of my very favorite states and Arches National Park is one of the reasons. The colors, the scenery and the landscape is like no other. So I was really excited to be visiting this amazing park again. As we did the last time we visited, we stayed at the KOA in Moab. Since we arrived late, we slept in a bit the next morning before heading into the park to explore.Stopping at the various scenic viewpoints for short hikes, we took our time on the road through the park. We had planned on hiking to Landscape Arch, but an afternoon thunderstorm popped up while we ate our lunch at the trail head picnic area. So we changed our plans and headed back to Moab to get some camp chores done.
Once the weather cleared, we headed back to the park for an evening hike to Delicate Arch during sunset. Only 3 miles round trip, this is an AWESOME hike and definitely one of my favorites. Not only is the arch magnificent, the number of people taking turns for a photo op makes it a super fun people watching spot. It was dark when we finally left the park, and we stopped at Denny’s for a late dinner which was a treat. I’m a sucker for their grilled cheese and fries!
Arches is one of those parks that you can see a lot in only a short time. While you should spend several days there if you can, even a few hours visit gives you a feel for this amazing wilderness area. Back at our campsite, we tucked into Bessie ready to take on a busy day tomorrow. A short hike in Canyonlands, Dead Horse State Park, and driving to Colorado was on the agenda so we needed our sleep for sure.
